Angora wool comes from the Angora rabbit (can be confused with the Angora goat where the wool is called Mohair). Most Angora wool originates from China, with some exceptions in Europe, Chile, and the United States. Angora wool is one of the softer types of wool, known to be silky, fluffy and warm. There are different kinds of Angora rabbits, and different ways of gathering the wool. Choose Angora wool that has been shorn of the rabbit, not plucked, and try to choose traceable Angora to make sure the welfare of the animals is held to a high standard. Make sure the Angora rabbits have not been raised in cages only for their wool. Caregora is a good certification.
